Barbara Bennett White, Ph.D. is an Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor Emeritus in theĀ Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at Stanford University School of Medicine.

Barbara White served as Director of Training and Senior Supervisor of the Family Therapy Training Program at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Palo Alto, where she taught and supervised psychology interns, psychiatry residents, and nursing and social work personnel. While at the VAMC Family Program, she conducted programmatic research centered on the Relationship Blueprint, developing an observationally based scale used to validate the theoretical model.
During this time, she administered grants and supervised doctoral dissertations of students at Pacific Graduate School of Psychology. Dr. White has published articles in Family Process and the Journal of Clinical Psychology Practice and has presented her work at numerous national conferences and taught at Santa Clara University. She has spent the last two decades refining the clinical application of the Blueprint through her ongoing private practice and in consultation with colleagues and continues to mentor students and junior colleagues actively.
Barbara did her undergraduate work at the University of California, Santa Barbara and received her teaching credential there. She taught science in middle school in California and high school in Connecticut. She undertook her graduate work in Clinical Psychology at the University of Connecticut under Dr. Julian Rotter, developer of Social Learning Theory and was a psychology intern at the VA Medical Center, Palo Alto before joining the faculty at the Family Training Program there in 1985. Dr. White is a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of California and has been in active practice for nearly four decades.
